So July 4th weekend turned out to be a really, really good weekend. There was some good parties, lots of good dinners, and a hugely successful weekend in poker. All that combined really made it a great prelude to the upcomming vegas trip.
Thursday was a half day at work and I got home and crashed. I was dead tired from the week that I wanted to get some rest in. I really didn’t get much poker in thur but I managed to win a 100 on like 50 hands or something. Friday, the 4th of July I woke up early to watch some Wimbledon and ended up playing some 10-20 and beatting anna164 for 1100. This was great as I’ve played her before and beated her everytime we played so I couldn’t pass up the shot when I saw her sitting at a 10-20 table. The day then went sour reall quick. I went from up 1100 to down 2600 very very quickly at the 5-10 level. A couple of severe cooler hands, ran Q 9 into QQ on a q 9 2 board. and ran 4 5 into 10 10 on a 4 4 10 board. I was able to keep my cool though and get all the way back from -2600 to +1,000 before I went out for the night.
The 4th was an awesome night. WE had dinner at XII a bar on 34th and 3rd and did 2 Jaeger bombs there and had some beers. That was only the beginning of the night. WE got to Lorens party at about 9 and drank a bunch there till 12ish. Anthony and I then went out to Mercury Bar where we pounded red bull vodkas (i think 6 or 7) in about 2.5 hours untill we both realized we better head home.
When I got home .. what did i do? go to bed? nope…ended up opening Full Tilt and saw this guy InternetPokers on 25-50 and above. This is a deucescracked instructer and I wanted to take a shot..I asked him to play 5-10 and he didn’t want to so I sugessted 10-20 and he obliged. We get the match going with me getting up about 800 or so when i had A 9 and he raised to 60 i called. The flop was A j 10 two clubs. He checked I checked. The turn was a 9 and i checked, he bet 100 i make it 280 he calls. The river is the Qc and I check and he fires 480 and I instacalled and he had nothing with J 3 and I took the pot. I left shortly after that up 1800 on him. That really capped off an amazing 4th of July.
Saturday I felt the pain like no other. My heart felt like it wouldn’t stop beating a mile a minute from the red bulls and I definetly am swearing off red bull vodka for a while (hmm chances of me sticking to that?). I tried to go to the gym but that didn’t work out to well, even though i got a decent workout In i felt like I was going to die the whole time. I napped then till 7 when Dana and I were going out to Tabla (this amazing indian fusion place). I really recommend this place..its rated on zagats as one of the top restaurants in the city and it didn’t dissapoint. We got this amazing dessert which sounded so simple, donut balls They were so amazing, with these awesome dipping sauces and flavors.
After dinner we just relaxed back at the apartment and watched some tv…we were both exausted from the night before.
Sunday more poker fun. I beat another guy at 10-20 for 1k and then was able to beat this guy , unclenozem for another 600 and basically ended up 1600 for the day. I cashed in the 750K guarentee but ran into a terrible spot with 380 left and that was that.
Updates will be less frequent as I’ll be in vegas starting wednesday but wish the group luck…we want to make a killing this year!
